In Loving Memory of a Founder
Allen J. Owens
1949 – 2023
Allen Jerald Owens was a devout Christian, an ordained minister, and one of the cherished founders of New Beginnings Church. As an integral member of our founding board and choir, he helped lay the spiritual and relational groundwork of our church family.
A proud U.S. Navy veteran, Allen was a wonderful husband to his wife, Mary, a true friend to many, and an "adopted" grandparent to the children of our church. He loved to sing, talk with people, and share his unique sense of humor, leaving a smile on every face.
Allen's legacy of faith, service, and joy will forever be a cornerstone of New Beginnings. He will be deeply missed.
Remembering Our Spiritual Father
Rev. Joe E. Edwards
D.Div. h.c.
1939 – 2024
Reverend Joe E. Edwards was a spiritual mentor and shepherd to many at New Beginnings Church. As the father-in-law of Pastor K. Ray Looney and a beloved figure in our community, his influence touched countless lives through five decades of faithful ministry.
A U.S. Army veteran who began his military service at just 15 years old, Pastor Edwards was called to ministry at 25 and went on to pastor 12 churches across 3 states. He served as State Overseer, Evangelism Director, and was a member of the Executive Council for the Church of God denomination.
Beyond his pastoral duties, he was a community builder who founded Excel Christian Academy, initiated the local National Day of Prayer, and developed Liberty Square with 80+ ministries. His heart for God's people extended far beyond the pulpit into every aspect of life.
Pastor Edwards' legacy of love, leadership, and faithful service continues to inspire our church family. He will always be remembered as a spiritual father who pointed us toward Christ.
